Principals, deputy principals and hundreds of community members braced the icy winter weather to join Radio Tygerberg for an outside broadcast in partnership with Beyond the Edge Tutoring at Wespoort Primary on Saturday, 29th June.
Beyond the Edge Tutoring gave away more than 150 stationery packs to learners and parents. Individuals enjoyed warm hot chocolate and were escorted to self-reflecting parent empowerment sessions. Aimed at enlightening parents on the challenges and policies within education and to give them guidance to support their children, the session also covered a number of positive parents techniques.
To join the festivities, hourly voucher giveaways to the value of R1000 was given, including food and cosmetic vouchers.
A number of educators were also assigned to perform reading assessments to test the learners average reading levels. Edmunt, Director of Beyond the Edge Tutoring explained that after years of working in the tutoring business, he is very concerned that the already low level of literacy is dropping every year. He, therefore, decided to include reading assessment as part of the outside broadcast promotion.
EduBiz Media partnered with Beyond the Edge Tutoring on this initiative and gave away more than R50 000 in online study vouchers.

He has personal experience with having his daughter in the Beyond the Edge tutoring programme – and can attest that the tutoring programme has and continues to work for his daughter. He is pleased that Wespoort Primary is one of the main tutoring venues in Mitchell’s Plain.
