The Progressive Principals’ Association (PPA) honoured more than 40 retiring educator, principals and support staff at the PPA’s annual Retires luncheon and awards ceremony last Tuesday.
Educators and principals from various part of the Western Cape came together to join the PPA members to celebrate the commitment of the many retirees to education.
Each of the retirees received a certificate of appreciation for their dedication, hard work and valuable contribution to education. Most retirees had more than 35 years of service. Lorna Atkins of Sullivan Primary School retired after 46 years in education. Ms Atkins said that she loved what she was doing so do not feel like she worked a day in her life.
Clive Arries, recently appointed President of the PPA said that is indeed a great honour that the PPA can honour and thank the retirees annually.
Mr Najaar one of the founder members of the PPA and Mr Salie Abrahams from the Education department attended the function and gave very inspiring speeches and thanked the retirees for their hard work and valuable contribution to education.
The retirees enjoyed a great lunch and spent the afternoon socialising and sharing many, many fascinating memories of their years in teaching.
