Cape Flats Book Festival

The first-ever Cape Flats Book Festival took place this weekend at West End Primary and was a roaring success. Bringing together both authors, students, book enthusiasts, and the general public, the two-day event was brought together by the efforts of Rosco and Athol, two brothers from the Read to Rise Foundation.

With two full days making up the event, much fun and laughter were had with many guests and speakers taking part in its promotion and sponsoring. Amongst those in attendance were representatives of the Plainsman, LIASA, FUNDZA Literacy Trust,  and help2read along with many others.

Many prominent ministers of education and culture of the Western Cape were in attendance as well, as both guest speakers and visitors. They were joined by the likes of Eddie Andrews, Ricardo McKenzie, and many more.

While all was fun and well, the impact of the festival raises new questions and opportunities for students and citizens of the Cape Flats. Raising awareness and interest in reading once more, we here at EduBiz would like to thank everyone who took part, and that they can make this possible for many years to come.
