University, college or work?
To many a student leaving matric, those words often encapsulate what they’re future years hold. To those who are both lucky and able to earn a place within a university or college, we at EduBiz wish you all the best. For those who haven’t or are unsure of what the future holds, who are worried about their future prospects, we say don’t.
The truth of the matter is that the future isn’t nearly as set in stone as media or society sets it out to be.
Contrary to what your teachers, parents or friends might have said or tried to prove, rushing life isn’t always the best option for everyone. Burnout exists, and I’ve seen personally what it can do to people. Coming out of 13 years of schooling only to jump right back into another 3 to 7 of more intense and aneurysm inducing stress? You’d be hard-pressed to find someone looking forward to that.
University life is tough and not at all what most people expect, leaving many at a loss or overwhelmed. Gap years exist for a reason, and despite what some would say, it doesn’t exist solely for the lazy. There are many, many things to do during a gap year that will develop you holistically after years and years of structured school life.
There are plenty of opportunities for students and people outside of university too even if they don’t get as much publicity as the more traditional modes of further study. Self-study might not come with a fancy degree, but it’s free and there are plenty of online institutes and sites that offer training with certification.
As the old saying goes, ‘Where there is a will, there is a way.’ Many of the greatest minds in history were unconventional thinkers and doers, and all it takes is a single step to start a revolution. Never let your future be dictated by society.
We at EduBiz are firm believers in forging one’s own path and destiny. Hard work and determination can change more than one life, and we wish to support those willing in any way we can. To those interested, we offer a free online voucher valued at R1000 that can be redeemed for one of our online courses on a variety of topics and subjects. Interested?
